Why use bio-based insulation?

When I explain to people that Tyler and I are going to use bio-based insulation rather than traditional fiberglass insulation, I usually get a "so you're one of those crazy environmetal types." Well, I finally have some data that shows that bio-based insulation is really a good idea whether you're into renewable energies, decreasing your dependency on foreign oil or improving local economies.
While trying to find some DIY insulation kits, I ran across this article that states a 2,500 square foot home will require about two acres of soybeans to produce the soy based insulation required to insulate it as opposed to 700 pounds of oil based products. Isn't that cool?! A mere 2 acres of soy beans can produce all the insulation our house would need. Considering we live in Iowa and there is an 80 acre soybean field just up the road... why would I use anything else?
