Insulation complete! Bring on winter!

Alright, this bogus weather can stop now, it can snow. Now that windows and insulation are in on the second floor, we are done with exterior work at least until spring.

It took a bit longer than expected for the insulation to be installed, due to equipment issues. But, I think the end result was worth the wait. It is warmer in the attic and second floor than it is down here on the first floor now. We barely have the oil furnace kick on anymore (which is great, considering the rate we were guzzling fuel oil).

We compared the thermal transfer of a few areas of the house once the insulation went in, just by touch - the new windows are pretty good, still cold obviously, as they are glass. The insulation is almost room temperature, with the wall studs only slightly cooler. The current stairwell is where the large difference was. Halfway down the stairs, we transition from the insulation to the current sheet rock and fiberglass insulation. The sheet rock is ice cold - such a huge difference from the second floor. I can't wait to get the insulation sprayed downstairs - quite a ways to go till then though.
