Tub and Shower Framing ... Check

Our big accomplishment for this weekend was framing in the openings for the tub and shower. The frame for the tub was easy enough - a big box slammed up in the corner. The framing for the shower was a big trickier as it required Tyler and I to "discuss" our plan for the shower.

Our "discussions" are never really very serious and we soon reached a concensus on the layout for the shower. We decided that a floor to ceiling wall between the shower and tub would end up making the room feel small. So, we decided to bump the shower out a few inches and place the shower head on the West wall. This allowed us to use only half walls on the sides of the shower. The following pictures show the framing for the shower and tub.

This shows the framing for the shower and tub as seen from the doorway into the Master Bathroom looking towards the North wall.
This is a close-up of the North half wall of the shower that will house the faucet for the tub.

When the shower is completed, the interior walls (the West wall and two half walls) will be tiled. Glass will be installed above the half walls to help make the bathroom feel more open. And, a glass door will be installed as the East wall for the shower.

When the tub is completed, the top of the platform will be tiled. The front of the platform will be covered in wood. This will make it easier for us to incorporate an access to the pump and allow for a vent to go in that will supply air to the pump. The faucet for the tub will be mounted on the North side of the North half wall for the shower. This will help simplify the plumbing since all of the supply lines can be run to a single wall.
