A Little More Progress

A few horse goodies weren't the only things I brought back from Boston, I apparently picked up a nice head cold on my journey as well. That combined with our chilly house has left us feeling a bit out of it this weekend. We still managed to get a few things done though.

To help fix the chilly house, Tyler disconnected the ducts from upstairs so more heat ended up going to the first floor. Since we don't live upstairs and the first floor is more drafty, this helped things out considerably. We were finally able to get our house up into the low 60's.

With the house warming up, Tyler and I headed upstairs. I went to work installing insulation in the interior walls for sound proofing and patching some of the remaining holes in the floor. Tyler worked on running 14-3 wire between all of the smoke detectors. We had been dinged by the inspector for not having the smoke directors on the same circuit. Tyler and I were waiting for the inspector to get back to us on which section of the code required the smoke detectors to be connected in this manner. We never heard from him. Instead, a client of Tyler's consulting business - who owns his own construction company - was having lunch with a journeyman and posed the question to him. The journeyman informed Tyler's client that it wasn't part of the code but it was just how the inspectors liked to see it done. So, we gave up and Tyler re-wired the smoke detectors.
