Master Bedroom Floor Installed!

Yup, that's right... in less than a week Tyler and I installed all 200+ sq ft of flooring in the master bedroom an inch and a half at a time. That comes out to about 120 rows of hardwood flooring. After last weekend, we spent another 6 hours on the floor over three nights after work. Tonight, I put the end cap on the last row of flooring in the arch and by the doorway.

I'm also pretty proud of how little flooring we wasted during the installation. The following photo shows all of the scrap pieces that were generated from doing half of the master bedroom. This was a little more than what was generated while working on the first half. We were told to estimate 20% waste. But, I think we kept it closer to 10%. The trick? I'd either try to find pieces that were within an inch or two of the desired length, or I'd find pieces that were more than 6 inches longer than the desired length so I could use them to start the next row of flooring. These scrap pieces had to be used at the beginning of the next row because they were no longer grooved and wouldn't be able to accept the tongue from the adjoining piece of flooring.
