Another Snow Storm...
The weekend before Christmas, another snow storm passed through our area. The storm dumped about 6" of snow before the winds picked up to 50mps gusts. By the time it was done, our road was snowed completely shut. Denny's son-in-law excavated the road with Denny's Bobcat on Christmas Eve morning so that everyone could get out. The following picture was taken after the road grader came through a widened the path a little more.
As you can see, the snow drift was almost as tall as the cab of our truck! We had several drifts in our yard as well - none of them quite as bad as those on the road. But, they certainly made for a lot of work for my new toy...
Tyler and I finally got a blade for our little tractor around December 12th. After several hours in the freezing cold, we finally got it mounted. On our first run, there were a few inches of snow in the yard that I got to shove around with the mower. But, it wasn't anything like this. I actually went out during the storm to shove some of the snow around. The winds were so strong and cold that they froze my eye lashes together! That was an interesting experience. Denny came over with his Bobcat and helped me move the massive drift that was at the foot of our driveway - it was a 3' drift that went across the first half of the driveway halfways to the house. But, my little JD and I were able to get the rest of the yard cleared out.
The little JD works pretty well when it comes to shoving the snow around. It's not exactly thrilled about starting in the cold weather sometimes. And, I keep reminding Tyler that there will come a point when my little bottom will want to be in a heated cab while pushing the snow. But, for now the little JD and I can keep the drifts in check.
